Radiokören har tagit publiken i New York med storm. Från 2400 personer – antalet besökare som var på konserten i Lincoln Center – till en smått magisk a capella-konsert i The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin som möttes av starka och långa applåder.

Den första recensionen från konserten i Lincoln Center konstaterade: ”The choir is the stuff of legend, and they met every expectation. It seems almost unbelievable that they number only forty-one singers. Their soft singing was breathtaking, their coloratura brilliant, and in full cry they were overwhelming.”.

Radiokören gav också en egen a capella-konsert inom ramen för Whit Light Festival i den väldiga ”The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin”, bara några kvarter från Times Square på Manhattan. Ett tusental personer hade köpt biljetter till konserten som presenterade musik av bland andra Anders Hillborg, Sven-David Sandström och Alfred Schnittke.

”When the 32 voices of the Swedish Radio Choir finished Anders Hillborg’s Mouyayoum last night, I turned to a friend and whispered, “It must be a trick. Nobody can sing this way.”. […]”It was a vocal Volvo, a piece of perfect Swedish engineering.”

New York Times’ förstekritiker Anthony Tommasini skriver på tidningens webb om Missa Solemnis på Lincoln center:

”As part of Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival, the conductor Thomas Dausgaard led the excellent Swedish Chamber Orchestra, four fine vocal soloists and the impressive Swedish Radio Choir in Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis.” This late work is wondrous, majestic and continually inventive, yet curious. You can almost hear Beethoven trying to overwhelm you, attempting to write the ultimate solemn choral work.
